Kellyn Owens
LVT
Kellyn has been a licensed veterinary technician since 2013 and joined the Pet Emergency Clinic Internal Medicine team in 2015. She completed a yearlong rotating internship at the University of Tennessee, was a laboratory instructor for the College of Southern Idaho’s vet tech program and worked at Veterinary Surgical Specialists in Spokane. Kellyn strives to make our clients and patients comfortable whether it is their first visit, twentieth or last visit. Feeding tubes, joint taps, and foreign body removals are some of her favorite procedures. A native of the PNW, Kellyn enjoys being outside with her three dogs, trying to tire them out, and playing board games with friends and family.
Maria Burton
VA
Maria brings years of veterinary experience, with a background in shelter medicine and animal welfare. As the Internal Medicine Coordinator, she combines her veterinary experience, organizational skills, and passion for animal care to support patients, clients, and the Internal Medicine team.
Claressa Salsbury
LVT, VTS
Claressa became an LVT in 2011 and obtained her VTS in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2018. She has been with the Internal Medicine department at PEC since 2013. She currently also manages the blood bank. Claressa loves to spend time hiking and is active in local animal rescue organizations.

Whitney Nelson

Veterinary Specialist, Internal Medicine
Dr. Whitney Nelson is a board-certified veterinary internal medicine specialist who has been part of the Pet Emergency Clinic team since 2015. She earned her undergraduate degree from Gonzaga University and her veterinary degree from Washington State University before completing a rotating internship at Cornell University and an internal medicine residency at Texas A&M University. After residency, she spent time in private practice in Connecticut before returning to Texas A&M to teach veterinary students and work in the teaching hospital.
Dr. Nelson enjoys the challenge of internal medicine and the opportunity to help pets and their families navigate complicated medical conditions. Outside of the hospital, she loves spending time with her husband, two daughters, and their pets. When she has some free time, you can often find her crocheting or simply enjoying time with her family.
